Abstract
This chapter presents the note of Alessandro Valignano of the Society of Jesus to the pupils of the Japanese seminaries, to provide the pupils with instruction about European things, which are so closely linked with, and indeed in large part drawn from Christian devotion. Valignano prepared the note from a manuscript version of the Burgos edition, possibly sent to him by Bonifacio himself. The note was intended to strengthen Japanese seminarians’ virtue and as an aid for Latin studies.
