Abstract
The present issue of the Bulletin of Portuguese and Japanese Studies is a generous volume with seven articles and four book reviews, covering a wide range of themes within Portugal-Japan relations, and addressing questions that expand on the ongoing debate on the intercultural dimension of the encounter. Mission and missionaries are the starting point of these articles, not surprisingly due the well-known importance and impact of (mainly) the Society of Jesus on the dynamics of Portugal-Japan relations, but the scope goes far beyond evangelization proper. Articles analyse cultural dialogues, that both testifies a certain degree of acceptance and adaptation, but also reveals an extensive acculturation as well, providing new insights in both perspectives.; info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion
